The Department of Geography aims at a fuller understanding of cultural and natural phenomena by analyzing landscape patterns and processes. In this sense geography overlaps other social sciences, including history, economics and environmental sciences, as well as natural sciences, such as geology and biology. We thus depart from the traditional understanding of geography which is limited to a simple description of the earth. Geography at Fatih University is, therefore, a holistic combination of physical and human geography, including aspects of biology, chemistry, physics, history, sociology, anthropology, and international relations.
